We are a newly established organisation and our aim is to improve Aboriginal health in the Great Southern Region. We are working with State and Commonwealth Governments to advocate, negotiate and manage the transfer of primary healthcare and related services for the region to community control.

While the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (“NACCHO”) boasts its role in supporting 146 ACCHOs across Australia with 550 sites, there is No ACCHO in the Great Southern Region of WA.

After almost 200 years it is time for Great Southern Noongar people to be in control of their own health care.

The Great Southern Aboriginal Medical Service (“GSAMS”) aims to partner with NACCHO and the Aboriginal Health Council of WA. We will bring the NACCHO led work to our region to improve the quality of life, health and well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in the region.
